The sauna is a system of immersion of the body into baths of heat where the body is subjected to higher than normal temperatures.

This system allows the body’s thermo-regulatory mechanisms to enter into action, producing the vasodilatation of the cardiovascular system and transpiration which will maintain the body temperature within its wide limits of tolerance in spite of the high temperature of the environment.

This phenomenon, together with cold showers, produces vasodilatation followed by vasoconstriction and provides the most effective massage of the cardiovascular system, increasing the elasticity of the veins and arteries and relieving the vascular problems such as varicose veins, bad circulation, arteriosclerosis, tendencies to coronary obstructions, etc.

The skin’s pores dilate as an effect of the cold shower thus easing the transpiration since these pores are cleaned completely.
